Find Family

Back to the early 1800's, my roots lie in what was then Virginia and is now the central and northwestern counties of West Virginia.

I have gathered information on over 25,000 people connected to my lines and am always interested in exchanging information

A few of my pioneer family names are:
BOGGS, CALLISON,CHEUVRONT, CONNOLLY, DEWEES, DOTSON, ELSWORTH, ENOCH, FOULKE, FRANKS, GREATHOUSE, HINKLE, HYLBERT, LOCKHART, MCCLUNG, MCCUTCHEON, MCDADE, SAYRE, SPRAGUE AND THORN.

NOTE: If you are a descendant of Richard Dotson born 23 October 1752 in Shenandoah County VA, please contact me at betty.renick@gmail.com for an invitation to a private on-line Dotson MyFamily site. We have many photos and other information including the following two books - out of print - but can be downloaded at the site. Thanks to Roger Dotson for making them available in pdf format

RICHARD DOTSON (1752-1847) AND HIS DESCENDANTS
by James M Dotson and Barr Wilson. 1992.
This is the most definitive 400+ page publication about the descendants of Richard Dotson.

DOTSON LAND GRANTS
James M Dotson wrote this book after doing extensive research about land owned by Richard Dotson born in 1752 and his descendants. This is an excellent research tool.

Barr Wilson also prepared hundreds of other manuscripts on early families who settled in the Doddridge & Ritchie County areas of WV.

Barr Wilson died in 2000, and Jim Dotson died in 2006. Both will be greatly missed.

Both men generously contributed their research to help others find their roots. Most of Barr Wilson's materials were donated to the Ritchie County (WV) Historical Society and are housed at the Stone House library.
