After arriving in the United States his descendants used either Reott or Riott. To the best of my knowledge all persons in the United states using either spelling are descendants of Nicholas. Nicholas and his wife Eva Barth (Bart) along with their 3 sons left Germany in 1826. In 1830 he purchased 300 acres of land in Butler County PA. His family is listed as among the original members of St. Marys catholic church in Herman PA which is about 4 miles from his land. During the last 15 years I have Gathered the names of over 900 descendants of Nicholas. In the near future I will be putting together a booklet with much infomation about the descendants of Nicholas.
