The Rerup Web Site contains a series of web pages with family, genealogy and history related items. The purpose of the web site is to share with interested parties the collected family information, genealogy charts and tables, and history components of the village of Süderlügum, Nord Friesland, Germany. Such topics are never complete and are forever changing by growth, research and corrections. If one were to wait until it was "perfect" and "complete", nothing would ever be published.

My full name is Hans Werner Rerup, but I am usually known as just Hans Rerup.
Genealogy caught my interest early. My mother had taken down a year-by-year description of my grandfather's life (this is my step-father's father). In 1946 my mother put me in touch with her father, my grandfather Nis Christian Rerup, and my former, then retired German school teacher, Johann von Böhl in the village. From these meager beginnings and without any other guidance I constructed my first rudimentary pedigree chart.

In 1963 I married Christina (Tiny) van As in Arnhem, Netherlands. Our sons were born in 1964 and 1967 respectively. They began in the 1970s to ask questions about where my wife and I originated from and about our families overseas. All the material, that I could give them, was limited and in either Danish, German or Dutch, which neither could understand. So, I decided to assemble, as best I could, the history of the family and write a comprehensive "family history" for them.
