Michael Reveal's land is #400, top center, and one of David Morgan's, #331, is a short distance to the right (East) of Reveal, as I expected and hoped. David leased a second plot, #330, ENE of his first plot, just near the upper part of the right margin of the map. According to the map index, #330 was leased by "Morgan, David, John, David, Washington & Lewis Jones Morgan, LoudounCo, Q-243-1787". I suspect that there should be no comma after the second David, thus reading "Morgan, David, John, David Washington & Lewis Jones Morgan" as was the case withthe abstract of the next deed. BTW, there's that Jones again. On the map index, #331 is described as leased by "Morgan, David, James Longwell Morgan, s. & Wm. s. of J. Oldacre, FrederickCo, 23-392-1792". This is lot Land #357 in the Deed Book. The abstract states: "to David Morgan ...for and during the natural lives of David Washington his Son, James Longwell & William Oldacre Son of John Oldacre". Jno (X) Morgan was a witness. On the map index, #400 is leased by "Reveal, Michael, James & Thomas, s's. [sons], FrederickCo, 23-300-1792. Michael Reveal's #400 lies between the Shenandoah R. on the W and Rte. 17 (& 50?) to the S and the Blue Ridge to the E. The map lists 3 ferries across the Shenandoah there: Kersey's Ferry, Comb's Ferry, and Berry's Ferry. Keith: this sounds like the place where your John Morgan operated a ferry. David Morgan's #331 is only abt 2 miles ENE of Michael Reveal's plot. They are both in what is now Clarke Co. David's #330 lies just E of the Blue Ridge, S. of Rte. 7 and Bluemont, in LoudounCo. I note that Jane Radner, whom Keith reports lives in the original Morgan house on land owned by David Morgan, lives in the Bluemont telephone exchange area on "Morgans Ml". I presume the road is named after Morgans Mill which Keith states is just off her property and appears in the ClarkeCo map available at the Clarke Courier newspaper in Berryville. My son, Alan, is going to stop by the newspaper when he gets time. The nearness of David Morgan's land to Michael Reveal's, plus the fact that 2 of Michael's sons married 2 of David's daughters, pretty well establishes the fact that the father of David W. Morgan was David Morgan and not Reese Morgan.
