" In Sam Johnson's 1936 letter: ' Dora (his youngest daughter) lives near where you last lived in London, not far away from Holloway Road A guess is the Johnson family lived on Holloway Road, but the context is unclear." (p.8) " In Sam Johnson's 1939 letter, Dora may have had a different address? ' Dora Johnson Barber lives at 74 Upper Tollington Park, Finsbury Park, London N., not far from where you [Hannah] lived in London. I was only once at your house in London. I very seldom saw your father and uncles when we were all in London. The part " when we were all in London" may have included his parents, who operated a pub in London. The 1900 Census indicated the Johnson family emigrated to the USA in 1884. The date is probably correct...The Bill Johnson family settled in the nearby Manhattan, possibly because of the three children. Of the four Johnson brothers who emigrated to the USA, only Bill and Alf Johnson remained in the States."
