I am gathering information on my Reynolds family who were supposedly tanners in Luckington, in the north west of Wiltshire, near the Gloucestershire border , in 1714. However my earliest records commence with the marriage of William Reynolds & Elizabeth Davis at Newington-Bagpath, in Gloucestershire, in 1740.They settled in Gt Badminton.

The occupation shifted to currier & by 1800 they were operating across the border in Corsham. From there, members of the family moved further east and had opened leather manufacturing businesses in Devizes, followed by Swindon & Andover.

In Gloucester, Joseph Reynolds ran the extensive flour mills at the docks. He was also mayor of Gloucester 1868-1870 & 1880.

Some members moved to London & at least two migrated to Australia and I am descended from Edward who arrived in Brisbane,Australia in 1864.

There also appears to be a connection to a Richard Reynolds who was Sheriff of London in 1532. He was warden of the Mercers' Company in 1521 & 1531.His father was John Reynolds, mercer, of London.

If anyone has information on this family I would be delighted to hear from them.
