Olla was born October 18, 1887 in Lawrence County Missouri. She often talked of how her and her husband, Rece Jesse Milligan lived in a dugout home in Oklahoma for several years. He worked on the ranch and she was the cook. . She also spoke of the days when men carried guns. She once saw Buffalo Bills Wild West Show when Sitting Bull, the Sioux chief was in the show. When she was young they traveled by horse, then she saw the coming of the car, the airplane and the landing on the moon. What changes the world had in her lifetime. She was the nicest woman you would ever want to meet. Always happy for her great grandchildrento visit no matter how long you stayed. She was a very small woman probably not much more than about 5-2 or so. My grandfather's brother, Howard Jesse always called her "Squatty". She never owned a home in her life. They always were renters. And after Rece died, she had all her worldly possesions in a cedar chest that is about 2 foot by 4 foot by about 18" deep. In which her great grandson has in his possesiontoday. It was built by her half brother Benjamin Speer. Olla died April 21, 1981in Harris County Texas |
