2. WILLIAM² BLANKENSHIP (RICHARD¹) was born October 17, 1840 in Greenup Co., KY, and died December 31, 1891 in Atkins, Conway, AR. He married ELIZABETH KEATON October 17, 1858 in Lawrence Co., Ohio. She was born February 28, 1838 in Greenup Co., KY, and died July 24, 1903 in Atkins, Conway, AR.

Notes for WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP:
William volunteered for service for 3 years during the Civil War. He was corporal of I. B. Murdoch's Company B, 2nd Regiment of W. Va. He was 5 feet tall, blue eyed, fair complected with red hair and was a laborer. He and Elizabeth homesteaded 160 acres of land in the SW qtr of Sec. 32, Twn 9N, Range 17 West on May 4, 1885, by M.McKlan. Record volume 6, page 416 on record in Conway Co., AR, Book 3, page 189, July 13 1889. he was elected Justice of the Peace of Griffin Township on Sept. 6, 1880 by Gov. W. R. Miller and was elected Judge of Conway Co. Court by Gov. James H. Berry of Little Rock October 30, 1884. He served as Judge 1884-1886.

William was a Methodist preacher in the Granny Hollow area. He and Elizabeth are buried in Old Hickory cemetery on Hwy 213, Wet and North of Hattiesville, Conway Co., AR
