1. SAMUEL¹ DAILEY was born Abt. 1809 in Bedford Co, PA, and died August 17, 1862 in Boone Co., IN. He married MARY WOOFENDALE (WOLFENDALE) December 10, 1835 in Boone Co., IN. She was born Abt. 1818 in OHIO.

"Boone County History 1984" page 148 - Samuel Daily as a former Postmaster of the Thorntown Post Office. he was installed on February 18, 1847
Marriage information of Samuel & Mary obained from Ind. State Library Genealogy Division of the Indiana Marriages thru 1850.
In the book "Early Wills of Boone County,Indiana 1833-1879, it states on page 25:
Daily, Samuel of Thorntown

Wife: Mary

Ch Sarah, Clueo, Isaac

Exec. John C. Daily and John Woofindale

Wit: John Kenworthy and Joseph Davis

Date of Will: 8 Feb. 1860 - Probated: 16 Nov. 1862

Have not found date or place of death of any children or of wife.

There's a question as to whether or not John C. Daily could have been either a brother or some relative to Samuel. In the 1870 Boone Co.Census, John C is lived in Center Twp, age 45 & was born in Ohio. "The People Guide of Boone Co., 1874" lists John C as President of First Nat'l Bank, Lebanon, Born in 1825 in OH and settled in Boone Co in1832. He was a Dem.

There was a John Daily living in Washington Twp in the 1870 Boone Co. Census, age 76 and was born in PA

Notes for MARY WOOFENDALE (WOLFENDALE):

It is believed that Mary's father was James WOOFENDALE born in 1790 in England. He had been a sailor. In the 1880 Boone Co. IN census, he is listed as living next door to Isaac and his family. Mary was living with Isaac at that time.

In Samuel Daily's Will dated Feb 8, 1860, John Woofindale was one of the executors. Could he be a brother of Mary's.

The above information is strictly guess work as there is no confirmation of this.
Although from my father (son-in-law of Charles & Pearl) he stated that my mother and he had gone to Indiana and found graves of Mary Woofendale Dailey, James Woofendale and Mary's mother. He said the best he could remember this information came from the Courthouse in Boone Co.
