There arenew pictures in the "List of Individuals" (Family History Section) If there is a little camera to the right of the person's name, when you click on the name, a picture will appear along with the usual information.
There are also new pictures in the "Family Photos" section (scroll down).
Scroll down to the Documents area to a postcard sent from Japan, and one sent from Germany by Lee Bearden, when he was in those countries.
A few comments and notes on how this site came to be:
When I told my grandmother that I was going to compile a family history for dad’s Christmas present she immediately quoted Titus 3:9
"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."
3 weeks into what I thought would take a couple of days to do, I found that I had lots papers, printouts, post-its, scraps of paper, reminders, which were all over my desk and starting to fall on to the floor. (My husband would say they had taken over the floor, but that is a bit of an exaggeration.) Not to mentions, my poor hubby was tired of hearing the keyboard go clickety-click as I typed until the wee hours of the morning.
I realized that what I had was a never ending mishmash of names, which included various versions who begat whom, and I had become so confused with which one was correct, I began to wonder if I was really related to my own mother!!.
Well I had to laugh because grandma had hit the nail on the head with that verse from Titus. AVOID GENEALOGIES!!!
Well obviously I did not completely avoid them, and I did eventually print a family book for my dad, parts of which are posted to this website. I hope you enjoy your visit.
I recently posted some of the Sappington Chapel Cemetery photos in the Virtual Cemetery (see the link under "Related Links" farther down the page.)
As for those of you who are actually related to me, please write…you now have my e-mail address, so drop me a line, tell me how you are and what you are up to!!
In addition, if you would like to have higher resolution copies of the photos, copies of the any files or reports, feel free I would be happy to send them to you…with this 1 condition… I expect a something in return, such as an interesting family story, funny anecdote, or family photo, so the next update to dad’s book has some new info in it.
