Notes for OPAL MAE RHODEN:
Opal Mae Rhoden Grimes died on Christmas Day in 1988. I had called her in the hospital before lunch that day, and she was recovering from surgery. She wished me 'the best Christmas, ever.' Three hours later, my sister, Linda Lou Rhoden Moody called to say that Opal had died in the hospital in Beaumont of complications from a blood clot.

Opal worked as the secretary to the principal in the Orange, Texas school system, and retired from there.

Notes for LEE GEORGE GRIMES:
Lee died of leukemia. The disease progressed into lung cancer. Lee Grimes namesake is Edwin Lee Rhoden, born 1954. Lee and Opal Rhoden were married for three years, when Maurice Rhoden, Opal's youngest brother, was born. After Maurice and Opal's father, Willie Obediah Rhoden died, Opal and Lee helped in raising Maurice.

Lee Grimes worked for Gulf Oil Company near Orange, Texas. He and Opal lived at Orangefield, Texas, before retiring to Woodville, Tyler County, Texas. They lived on his families old home place unti Lee died in 1974. After he died, Opal sold the homeplace, and moved to the town of Woodville on Wheat Street.
