Notes for L
EMUEL S. HARVELL:
Notes from e-mail file from Marlin Parker on Oct 9, 2000

Butler Co. Alabama probate book c, pg. 282-283. On 12 19 1876, Lemuel and Ellen Harville adopted William B. Ard. Their son, David A. Harville, acknowledged himself as being the father and Georgia Ann Ard as being the mother of William B. Ard. William B. Ard Harville was born in the Red Level Community, Covington Co., Al. In the 1860 Census of Covington Co, he was listed as a son. Georgia Ann Ard was a young girl living with Lemuel and Ellen Harville. When the time came for Georgia Ann to have her baby, she went out into a field. She attempted to abandon the baby by leaving him in the field. Ellen, aware that something was amiss, went out and found the child. He was then talken in and reared by Lemuel and Ellen as their own son. This was told to Suzanne Quinley by Hilda Faye Harville Johnson, who was told this by her mother, Era Smith Harville. Recvd from Suzanne.

Notes for J
. W. SPRAGENS:
The 1860 Tyler County Federal Census lists J W Spragens 35 with 'S.' 25 female and 'T.' age 1 male. His wife in my records is listed as Sarah Harville, born about 1824. This 'S' could not be Sarah Harville because Sarah was not born until about 1824, which would have made her one year old at the time of this 1860 census. The birthplace of JW and S are listed as Alabama, and 'T' is 1 year old from Texas.

ARTHA E. HARVELL:
Received e-mail on 10/22/2000 From M. Parker:

Ed, The story that we all have is that when she died she was living in the
home of her daughter, Luease Edwards and that they did not embalm in those
days and since the trip to Camp Ruby took so long they buried her in the
Votaw Cemetery. Tha is also where Luease is buried. Marlin

Notes for T
HOMAS JEFFERSON FRANKLIN:
Co. D 16 Texas Inf. CSA.

When the civil war started Thomas J. Franklin and his brother-in-law Alexander Harville went to Woodville, Tx. on May 28, 1862 and joined the Confederate Army. They were in the

16 th. Reg. Tx. Vol. Inf. Co. D. Scurry’s Brigade, Walker’s Div. And they served till the end of the war. Family lore has it that Thomas J. fought at Vicksburg, Miss and his name is not recorded there because he was not captured and made to sign a statement that he would not fight anymore. The fact that he was in the branch of service as stated above can be verified thru the Texas and National Archives and his branch of service is written on a monument at the Vicksburg, Miss., Battlefield.

Thomas J. Franklin drew Civil War Pension File #7031 starting 3-30-1900.

Martha harville Franklin drew pension #10454.

Alexander Harville drew pension #3363.

Martha E. Harville drew pension #18260.

Hope this helps. Marlin
