| The RHODES family originated in Flockton, near Wakefield in Yorkshire before moving to Mottram in north east Cheshire in the 1800s. There they stayed (and probably stay still) until my branch moved to Dukinfield, Cheshire, following the railway. The BINNIEs are from Falkirk, Scotland. They moved to Lancashire in search of work, again ending up in Dukinfield. The HARROPs appear to be Mottram folk. My favourite are the PRESTWICHs. Many tales are told of GG John Alfred and following his path, and that of his father Arthur, is like trekking dry sand in a breeze. Any help in furthering the research, much appreciated. |
