* The Rhodes and Winpennys of Yorkshire, England*

Updated September 26, 2006

The Rhodes and Winpenny families were brought together when my parents married on 5 March 1945.

Theye are two families that have existed in Yorkshire for at least 200 years.

The Winpennys have lived mostly in the Bradford area of the old West Riding of Yorkshire - Yeadon, Calverley, Saltaire, Eccleshil and Undercliffe. The were joined by the Richardsons from Norfolk in 1875 and the Johnsons in 1908. There are other family names connected - Mears, Furniss, Naylor, Larkin, Thornton and others yet to find.

The Rhodes family came from the old East Riding of Yorkshire - Pocklington. The names Clough, Jordan, Garsides, Hall, Adams, Priestley form part of that tree. The Rhodes family mostly moved to Bradford in the early 20th Century and a number of other family members moved to areas around Knottingley and other parts of West Yorkshire.

Gearge Clough and Mary Ann Jordan emigrated with some of their off spring to the United States around 1870.

Research is at an early stage. If you have any information please email me.
