This is a retype of notes from Wilhelmina F. Rhode (1876 - 1943) My fatherís grandfather on his motherís side was a Barthold. His grandmother was a Wilhelmina Lobs. Great grandmother Barthold was a Frenchman. He marched with Napoleon on Moscow in 1814 and was one of the few to come back. 100,000 marched on with Napoleon on to Moscow but only 30,000 came back again. Great grandfather Barthold was frozen in the feet and was cared for by the villagers. He married the daughter of one of these Germans and lived always after in Germany. His native place WAS Elses Lorraine, once a Prussian state, but when he was born it became a French province. I was named for my great and grandmothers, on fatherís side Wilhelmina, and for mother, Frances. Emily was named for fatherís oldest sister, Amelia Louise. Wilhelmina F. Rhode
