Notes for Esther Essman: Esther Essman Tunnell has been called 'Easter' by some descendants. The 1840 McMinn Co. census lists an Easter Tunnell. Her household consisted of one male 10-15 yrs., one female 5-10 yrs., one female 10-15 yrs., two females 15-20 years, one female 20-30 yrs. and one female 50-60 yrs. She is listed as Ester Tunnell, a male, in the 1850 census aged 56 and born in KY. She has the following children in 1850: Keziah, age 23; William, age 22 and Catherine age 20. |
