Notes for Samantha J. Bush: I had sent for and received the birth record from her daughter Daisy Mae Ralston. To my dismay, the record listed Daisy's mother as S.J. Ralston. However, while searching through old Church records from Gilmer County West Virginia, I found the marriage listed for William R. Ralston to Samantha J. Bush on 11/17/1881 in Gilmer County, West Virginia. Samantha is not buried with William Ralston. Also found are more Bush and Ralston cousins to help put the pieces together. August 29, 1869 Peter Bush of Gilmer County married a woman by the name of Mary McDonald. Peter's first wife must have died and Mary the 2nd wife. Assuming that is if Marshall McDonald is actually the child from a previous marriage by Mary.
1870 Census; Troy Twp. Gilmer County, WV: Bush, Peter age 45, occupation - farmer Mary, wife, age 51 James, age14 Millard, age 12 Marge, age 10 Samantha, age 8 and Marshall McDonald age 13 Everyone in the household was born in Virginia
1880 Census, Troy Twp. Gilmer County WV: Connolly, Thomas age 69, occupation Farmer Maria, wife, age 63 Thomas, son, age 18 Bush, Samantha, Neice, age 17 I found a marriage record of Maria Bush, sister of Peter Bush, married Thomas Coleman Connolly on 02/07/1841 in Lewis County Virgina. This information leads me to believe that I have found the correct family for Samantha Jane Bush.
