MICHAEL CALLAGHAN, PROMINENT MINE MAN, DIES AT REVERE HOME Special to the Courier. UNIONTOWN, Mar. 16---Michael Callaghan, 64 years old, formerly associated with the Reilly-Callaghan Coal & Coke Company and widely known as a mine foreman for the past 30 years, died suddenly Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at his home at Revere of a heart condition.
Mr. Callaghan's father, Bernard Callaghan, of Connellsville, was a mine inspector in this district for a number of years. He started in business with his brother-in-law, W. J. Reilly, In 1910 and was among the business leaders in the county. At the time of his death, Mr. Callaghan was operating a custom coal mine in the county.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. B. E. Callaghan, and the following children: Mrs. Rose Goistor, Mrs. Marie James, Mrs. Betty Ledford, Francis Callaghan and John Callaghan, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Swortz, Cincinnati, Ohio; Burnadette Scarf, Pittsburgh; William of Los Angeles Cal; Vincent and Michael Jr. of Uniontown. He also leaves the following sister and brothers: Margaret Callaghan and Rose Carpenter of Connellsville, and Vincent Callaghan of Memacolin.
