Laws governing worship were strict and evasions were frequent. Listed below are the people who appeared in the Caroline court charged with violations of the laws governing worship:
1772--John Partlow was arrested along with Nathaniel Holloway, a Baptist preached for allowing Holloway to preach at Partlow's residence. John was listed as an ex-constable. When their case came to trial, they refused the Magistrates' offer to post bonds of twenty pounds, each, to keep the peace for a year and a day, and went to jail.
