These are my great-great-grandparents who came from Germany as children, met and married in Elk County, PA, then settled in IL. They had 16 children, the oldest of which was Joseph Morris Bard, husband of Ellen McKee. John (a farmer) and Barbara were prominent citizens of Iroquois County, IL, where many of their descendants live today. Their original farmhouse (1886) remains part of a working farm in rural Donovan, IL. John and Barbara are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Beaverville. St. Mary's Catholic Church, which they, and their family helped to build, is on the national register of historic places.
