Civil War veteran....Co. F of the 6th NY Cavalry(nickname the Ira Harris Calvary or the 2nd Ira Harris Guard), enlisted in NYC 1861, discharged the reenlisted in Co. G 2nd NY Calvary(nickname the Harris Light Calvary)....discharged 6/5/1865 (NY Adjt. Gen) located on the 1890 special schedule of union veterans in 9th ward, Syracuse, page 4, line 44 @305 Wilbur Ave.
resided at 407 Wilbur Ave @ the time of death
found with Harriet and infant son Eugene in the Cortland County 1860 census....employed by the Bliss Sash and Blind Factory in Truxton, NY. Then enlisted in the civil war and afterwards raised family in Syracuse, NY
Per Pat Rice Cooper, Charles knew Abraham Lincoln....? how well or just had met him. She also states that Charles suffered an injury in the civil war that caused him trouble until he died, it involved some injury to his ? bowel?
