Mary Parker's birth date of 20 Aug 1774 was from Noah Parker's Bible.
Mary Parker had three sisters and two brothers older than she.They
lived with their parents, John and Sarah, on their land northeast of the
Chesapeake Bay in Sussex County, Delaware,when John enlisted for
service in the Revolutionary War from Delaware.At the time of John's
enlistment, Mary was not quite two years old and she had three younger
brothers that were born in 1778-1780-1782 before the armistice was made
final in 1783.They family then moved from Delaware to Georgia in
1783-1784.
She married her cousin Samuel Parker [son of George Parker/Sarah maiden
name unknown] in 1792.They lived in Greene County Georgia from 1796, in
Hancock County Georgia in 1802, and then in Baldwin County Georgia
between 1806-1813.
In 1818, they are listed on the tax list of Conecuh County Alabama.
Samuel died in 1840 and his obituary is recorded in the Christian Index,
2 July 1840 page 441 Washington County Georgia
In 1840 census, Mary is in the home of her son Samuel in Coneuch Co. AL
In 1850, Mary is living in the home of daughter Sarah and Miles J
Herrington and recorded in the 1850 and 1860 census of Conecuh Co. as
resident in their home.
Mary died 12 Dec 1861 and is buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Red Level,
Covington, Alabama
Tombstone inscription in Fairmount Cemetery, Covington Co. erected by Dr.
Odis Little reads:Mary [Polly] Parker, born Sussex County Del. Aug 20
1774-1861, Wife of Samuel Parker, daughter of Sarah Gordy and John Parker
who served in the army of the Delaware under Gen. George Washington.
Her father's will [John Parker] dated 18 Feby 1793 Greene County GA,
found in Records and Estates Book A, pg 8 Baldwin County, Georgia.
[Baldwin County was made from part of Greene County.]
