She was born Abt. 1832 in Todd County, Kentucky, and died Bet. 1853 - 1860 in Grayson County, Texas. He married (2) JULIA ANN WHITAKER June 17, 1860 in Grayson County, Texas. She was born August 17, 1845 in Missouri, and died 1922 in Grayson County, Texas.

Lucy married my ancestor John WATSON of Grayson Co., KY in 1853. John was Lucy's cousin, the son of Jesse WATSON, Evan's oldest son. Lucy apparently died sometime between 1853 and 1860, as John remarried Julia Ann WHITAKER in 1860. When Jesse died in what is now Bowie Co., TX in 1834 (as did father Evan and brother William), Jesse's widow Rebecca DENTON Watson removed to Sumter Co., AL to live near her relatives. I have copies of several letters written by Rebecca to Collin McKINNEY in the late 1830's regarding the estate settlements of Evan and Jesse. When Jesse's son John turned 21 in 1850, he came to Texas and sought out his uncle Coleman to assist in applying for a Headright grant based on his father's settlement in Texas. John is listed on the 1850 Collin Co., TX census living near Collin McKINNEY. Though the claim was denied, it is this document (that Coleman signed) which proved John WATSON of Grayson Co., TX was indeed kin to Coleman, and a descendant of Evan Thomas WATSON.
