I am searching for my Mother's side of the family. The name is Chalke and they originate from England. My grandfather Arthur Chalke came to Canada between 1900 & 1908, He married Mathilda Sengbeil (Zingbeil) on September 9, 1908. They hand 5 children, 1 child died when he was 1 1/2 yrs. old in Yorkton Saskatchewan.
The first 2 children were born in Prince Albert, Henry (Harry) April 18, 1909 & Henrietta (Grace) Oct.26,1910, Second 2 children were born in Yorkton, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Sept. 10 1912 & Gladys March 14, 1914. The baby was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba April 19, 1918 They moved back to Yorkton Saskatchewan after the baby was born, I know because the baby and my grandmother died there. They are buried at the Yorkton City Cemetery.
My grandfather left his wife and children between 1918 & 1920, he was never seen or heard from again, & I still can't find any trace of him today. My grandmother died on December 8, 1920, she was 34 yrs. old, cause of death: acute peritonitis. The children were split up and put into foster homes. As far as i know my grandfather was the only one who came to Canada, the rest of the Chalkes are still in England. I met some of them when i went to England in 1997, I got some information from them but now i'm at a standstill again. Any info. on ether the CHALKE and or SENGBEIL (ZINGBEIL) familys would be greatly appreciated.

I have traced him back to the late 1800's in Hadley Barnet, Hertfordshire (AKA Hertford), England. He had 2 brothers, John and Fred. The sons of Henry and Emily Chalke.
