| The family names being researched include the Richards, Yost, Hillegas, Gregory, Pigg, Easley, Griggs, Blair, Motley, Colonna, Rulli, Monks, and O'Connell families. Nicolas Richards was an English coal miner who came to Wilkes Barre, PA about 1850. His grandson, William Henry Richards married into the Yost family, a German family who came to Montgomery Co., PA in the 1730's and then moved to Schuylkill Co.,PA. The Yosts and Hillegas families joined when three Yost brothers married three Hillegas sisters. Richard Gregory was an indentured servant who came to Jamestown in 1620. The Gregory, Pigg, Easley, Griggs, Blair, and Motley families all intermarried over several generations in Pittsylvania Co., or neighboring Virginia counties, all dating back to pre-Revolutionary days. The Colonna family is of Italian descent, leaving Abruzzi, Italy in the 1910's and 20's for the United States. Angelo Colonna married Angela Martina Rulli, who's family came to the Buenos Aires, Argentina area from Chita, Abruzzi, Italy, and they came to Philadelphia where he established a sheet metals fabricating company. The Monks and O'Connell families are of Irish descent, coming to the Philadelphia area about 1850. Joseph Monks and Michael O'Connell were the patriarch immigrants of these families, Joseph being of Irish parents but born in England, Michael coming directly to the U.S. from Ireland. We are pround to announce the newest member of the family. Liam Richard Pearson, the first grandchild of the author and son of his daughter Nicole, and her husband Sean, was born December 9, 2008. |
