I am researching the Ridley family from the north-east of England. So far, I have traced back to a Matthew Ridley, born 1832 (d 1924) but I don't know exactly when, or where - although I suspect it was probably in Northumberland or Durham, UK. His son Matthew married Sarah Herriott around 1850 and their son Matthew (yet again - there are a few of us in a row) (1872/3-1956) married Margaret Younger around 1901. I have been told that we're related to "Geordie" Ridley, the author of "The Blaydon Races" a well-known folk song of NE England. I'm not sure where that relationship comes in. To complicate matters, I think that "Geordie" neither married nor had any children. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
