My original intent in researching my "Roots" was to go as far back as I could on my fathers'line(Mayfields)and my husbands'fathers'(Rileys) line.Little did I realize what that would lead to!!Mayfield:pre1830 N.C.,S.C. to TN(where?) to Franklin Co.AL led to:Lowry(Lowery)pre-1850 N.C. to TN to AL+Ballentine(Balentine)pre-1830 N.C. to Wayne Co.TN to Lauderdale Co.AL to Colbert Co.AL+Stewart 1830-1850 Blount Co.AL+Ayers(Ayres)pre 1840 N.C.to Tn to Franklin Co.TN+Gargis(Gargus,Gargas,Garrigius)pre-1815 N.C.to Giles Co.TN to Franlkin Co.(later became Colbert Co.)AL.
Riley:pre-1795 PENN to OH to Owen Co.IN to Edgar Co.IL to Vermillion Co.IN+Ruby(Rubi,Rube)1715Reicherbach,Switzerland toYork Co.Penn to Hardin Co.KY(was Commonwealth of VA)to Edgar Co.IL to Ringgold Co,Iowa and points west.Only "my" Ruby remained and moved to Vermillion Co.IN.
Any information would be appreciated. I would share what I have.
