Diane Junk Riley of Greenville, PA

Updated June 24, 2003

I'm just beginning so I am only researching the Junk family who settled in Pennsylvania from Ireland. Other Irish surnames are Lally, Landers, Powers.

I am not sure where my Grandfather, Lewis James Junk was born, but it was told he quit school in the third grade to work in the Dagus Coal Mines near Kersey, PA. He had 13 siblings, . Nothing is known about his father, William Henry Junk (1852-1926) who married Mary Theresa Jacquette. Mary's parents were Francis Jacquette and Margaret Lally. Margaret was said to have been born in County Down, Ireland and was previously married to a Charles Congdon who had 10 children.

If anyone has information on the Dagus Mines, I would appreciate that also.

My Grandmother, Margaret Frances Landers had 7 siblings. Both of her parents, Mike Landers and Johanna Powers came from Ireland.
