Lu and I have recently become interested in searching for our ancestors and information about them, so we are relatively new to the process.
Lu is most interested in the surnames of VICK, ERWIN, HONEY, and HARRIS. A current puzzle is what happened to John L. Harris of Williamson Co., IL after his wife died in approximately 1886. Generally, the four families have been located in Wayne, Clay, and Williamson Counties of IL back to the mid 1800's. We do know that the VICK family has been traced back to the Isle of Wight, VA to Joseph VICK in mid 1600's.

I am most interested in the surnames of RILEY, BARNES, BRITTON, BURTON, and STONECIPHER. I've traced the RILEY branch back to Jonathan Riley, born approximately 1820, reportedly in Indiana. He lived most of his life in Clay County, near Louisville, IL. His father's name may have been William, but I need supporting evidence of that as well as more identifying information about William. BARNES has been traced back to Frances BARNES, born in the mid 1700s. He migrated to Gallatin/Trimble Co, KY in the early 1800s. His descendents (my line) migrated to Jefferson Co, IN, and then to Clay Co., IL

If any of these surnames and general locations match your interests, we would be interested in hearing from you to share information.
