The Zinger-Marsden Family Home Page

Updated September 6, 2000

I am currently researching the Edward Marsden in Philadelphia from 1850 on. Edward and his wife, Alice Street, were both from England and came to Philadelphia sometime between 1840-1850. I have extensive information on the families of his sons James and William. Some info on other children Isaac, Mary and Edward.
I am also researching the Gottlieb Zinger family. Gottlieb arrived in Philadelphia sometime between 1850-1860 from Germany. His wife's name is Caroline. I have a lot of information about his son William. There were other children named Elizabeth, Frederick, Annie, David and Kate. I would like information on them as well as on the German end. The descendents of William Zinger are having a reunion in August in Pennsylvania.

I am also researching the Robert Shurford (Schwarford) family. His wife's name was Anne. The 1850 census has him coming from Germany, but I have no further information about that. They had three daughters: Mary, Rebecca and Sarah. I have a lot of information about Mary but not the other girls. I am also looking for the German spelling of this last name as it appears to have been changed several times.

Finally, I am researching Hugh Watters and his wife Catherine Brennan, who came from Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1920 and 1927, respectively. They had four children: Sam, Violet, William and Bertha. I'm looking for the ancestors of Hugh and Catherine. Surnames mentioned in oral histories include: Beggs, Devinney and Humphrey. The town of origin is always Carrickfergus, No. Ireland.

I would greatly appreciate any information on these lines and am willing to share what I have.
