My interest in family history started out of basic curiosity...I was told about an "Indian woman" who was supposed to be the great-great grandmother of my son. I've looked everywhere for this woman, and to this day I have never found her... but along the way I learned so much more about my family, my history, and myself. Everything I discover gives me reason to dig a little deeper, and the deeper I dig the more I discover.

Most of my ancestors settled in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. They traveled from Ireland, Spain, England, Germany and Czechoslovakia, all hoping for a better life. Little did they know that someday I would do some traveling back in time to find them. This has turned into a never ending journey.

Here are some of the surnames I am looking for, and where they are from...
Spain/Argentina/Cuba: Rivas, Casais, Canosa, Insua
Ireland: Lynn, McGowan, Murphy, McHallam, Clark, Biggers
Germany: Schaefer, Gaul(Ghaul)
Czechoslovakia/NY/NJ: Snizek, Risary, Risarova
Monmouth Co. NJ: McCoy, Cheeseman, Tilton, Emley(Emlay)
Pennsylvania: Gaul, Hunter, Stone, Biggers, West

I have many other names to add to this list, this is just the start...all of you know, it will never end...
Please overlook my technical ignorance, we all have to start somewhere.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions and or comments.

This is a picture of my grandmother Florence Ghaul Rivas. Her stories about the family have kept this going.
