James Keeler (son of Martin Keeler and Hannah ??) died date unknown. He married (1) Elizabeth Hiller on Abt. August 31, 1831 in Murray Twp, Northumberland Co., Ont., Canada2857. He married (2) Sally Ann Moore on March 09, 1846 in Northumberland Co., Ont., Canada2858.
Notes for James Keeler: We know very little about this James Keeler. However, it is likely he and Martin Jr. were brothers as they both took out Marriage Bonds on the exact same day in August 1831, in Murray Twp, and had the same bondsmen.
In the Ontario Computerized Land Records Index, the following entry appears:
Keeler, Jas A. (from original document looks like it could be "Jos." meaning Joseph] Cramahe Twp Lot Pt 31, Concession I, Date Id: S (=sale), Issue Date 1829/05/11, Trans Type S (=sale), Type FG CL (=Clergy) Deed NO, Archival RG Series 01 C1113, Reference: Vol. 001, Page 047. I believe the purchase, of 135 acres, was either made by Joseph A. Keeler or this James Keeler. Regardless, both Martin Sr. and Martin Jr. lived on this property for many, many years.
In 1831, Land Assessment records (Ontario Archives Film M7739) for Cramahe Twp, James appears as follows:
Keeler, James 0 acres uncultivated 1 acre cultivated Lot 34, Concession 1 - southeast part 1 M > 16 yrs 1 Pound Assessment
By 1832, James' wife Elizabeth appears to be indicated:
Keeler, James 0 acres uncultivated 1 acre cultivated Lot 33, Concession 1 - southeast part 1 M > 16 yrs 1 F > 16 yrs 1 House 36 Pound Assessment
The 1846 marriage of James Keeler & Sally Ann Moore (possible 2nd wife), has Hannah Clyne (formerly Keeler) and Joseph Wessenberger as the witnesses. This seems to further connect the individuals.
William James Keeler's marriage appears in the Northumberland Register in 1862. Is he the son of this James & Elizabeth Keeler? Still speculative.
