Notes for Leonard Lewis Roach:
Leonard Roach enjoyed the outdoors and having children around. He always seemed to like it when grandchildren would visit. When he was at home, he liked to raise rabbits, but he and Fanny liked to go camping, and were seldom home for any length of time. They particularly enjoyed summers at Wolf Creek and they spent a few years coming to Florida for the winter.

Notes for Fannie Koontz:
Fanny Koontz was born December 14, 1914, the fifth of seven children. Fanny was born with lovely red hair and hazel eyes. She spent her early childhood in Greenup County, Kentucky and then her family moved to Columbus, Ohio. About 1928, when Fanny was 14 years old, her family moved to Enterprise, in Hocking County, Ohio where she met Leonard Roach and on May 8, 1937 Fanny married Leonard in Greenup County, Kentucky. After they were married, Fanny and Leonard built a house on the Old Roach Farm in Sleepy Hollow where Maggie, Phil and Grace were born. They moved to Bremen, and then on to Junction City where Maggie started school. From there Fanny and Leonard moved their family to Thornport into a house owned by Mr. Seward, and there Johnny was born. At that time Leonard worked in Oscar Helser's gas station in Thornport. He then obtained employment in Newark at Owens Corning and the family moved to a big yellow house across the street on the other side of the ponds, in Thornport, Ohio. Rick was born in this house. The next move was to Thornville, in the Old Hamby Place next to the railroad track, where Sue and Evelyn were born. From there they moved to Fairfield Beach on the south side of Buckeye Lake. About this time Leonard had a traffic accident and was hurt badly. In the winter or 1949 or 1950, the family moved to Corning, Ohio where Leonard owned and operated a jewelry store. At that time they lived in Mrs. Weaver's Building. From there, they bought a house on South Valley Street (Corning) and Leonard had a taxi business. Fanny was 38 years old when her youngest child, Billy was born in Corning. From there they moved to Steve Fechety's Building and lived upstairs over their radio and television shop. Then they bought a three-story building where Seimer's Grocery had been, and lived there until they bought property at Lake Logan, about 1965 or 1966. They maintained ownership of this property until Leonard's death in 1992.

Meanwhile, after Leonard's retirement, Fanny and Leonard purchased a camper and spent a great deal of time camping. One of their favorite sites was Wolf Creek in Morgan County, Ohio. They did spend many months after retirement camping in various parts of Florida, including Fort Myers, Avon Park and Frostproof.

Fanny enjoyed her family and was a very flexible and resourceful person. She liked to read books, play scrabble and work crossword puzzles. She looked forward to "mushroom hunting" in the spring, fishing and just going places. She loved the outside, was always eager to learn new things, preferred ice cream for dessert, and Oyster sandwiches were a favorite food. One of Fanny's favorite songs was Amazing Grace. Through the years her red hair changed to a lovely white before her death on November 24, 1988. Fanny was 73 years old.
