Isham Wheelis (b. 1788, d. 1855)

Isham Wheelis (son of Reuben Wheelis and Sarah Ellen Johnson) was born 1788 in Tennessee, and died 1855 in Iowa. He married Elizabeth Ramsey on 1809 in Claiborne County Tennessee, daughter of Josiah Ramsey and Elizabeth Cowen.

Notes for Isham Wheelis:
There are few records that can be found uf Isam Wheelis, however he was listed on one of the 1801 Hawkins Co. Tennessee petitions. He apparently married Elizabeth Ramsey about 1809 because his first born son, Josiah Wheelis was born in 1810. There is no absolute record of the exact date of his death. However in the late 1817 court records of Claiborne Co. Tennessee, there is this quote, "The will of Isam Wheelis was laid on the table". This meant that further action on this would be postponed until later. Then in the court of 1818, the records indicate that Isam's will was dealt with.
