Robinson
Jerry Robinson married Rhoda Robinson on March 20, 1866 at the residence of G.W. Files who would eventually become Jerry Robinson's grandson, Barney Robinson's,great-grand-father-in-law. Rhoda's maiden name is Campbell.(Mattie Files stated that her middle name may be Bessie.) Jerry and Rhoda Bessie are the parents of Will Robinson, who was born about 1874; Charlie Robinson; Henry Robinson; and David Robinson. Jerry later married an Edy Armistead (this wedding also took place on the G.W. Files residence) December 20, 1888.

Jack Luke Robinson was born about 1850. Annie Robinson was born about 1853. They were married on February 13, 1870 at Amity Church.

Jack Luke Robinson and Annie (Rodgers) Robinson were the parents of Darncie Robinson; Eliza Robinson Armstead, who was born about 1890;Cornelia Robinson who was born about 1894; Willie J. Robinson, who was born about 1900.; Dan Robinson; Tat Robinson; Sam Robinson; Ida Robinson; and Nita Robinson.

Eliza Armstead is mother to Commie Armstead, who was born about 1908; and Delma (Armstead) Gwin. Elm Armstead may be the father of Commie. In the 1910 census Elm lives adjacent to the Robinson family. Delma married Frank Gwin and had Crissy M.(Gwin)Williams; James Bullard Gwin;and Mitchell R. Gwin.

Eliza Robinson and Darncie Robinson had strong Native American features which indicates that they and their siblings inherited some Indian ancestry from their parents. Right now, there are no leads on where this Native American influence was introduced into the family bloodline or what the tribe was. Since, we know of no Indian names for Jack Luke or Annie Rhodes perhaps their parents were Native American? Clarke County, Alabama is former Choctaw Indian territory. Thus, it is possible that the family's Native American influence is Choctaw Indian.

Will Robinson and Darncie Robinson married. Will Robinson was born about 1874. Darncie Robinson was born about 1883 and died in 1958. They moved with the Robinson clan from Manilla to the present Robinson Drive location in Jackson, Ala. They had a home on the property that is now occupied by Marvin and Rose Robinson. Will and Darncie are the parents of Barney Robinson(born in 1902); Desere Robinson Washington, born about 1906 (and married George Washington); and Annie J. "Baby" Robinson Washington? Jackson? Annie J. was born about 1907 and had a baby named Jimmy Lee Washington.

Files

Henry Files, Sr. was a mullatto child born in 1844. Oral tradition (re: Mattie Files Robinson) says that he was the son of a White Doctor with the surname Files. She was not aware of his name. Census research shows that his name was Dr. George W. Files. The father of George W. Files. is John Files,III who appears in the 1816 census record for Clarke county in Alabama territory; 1817 census record for Alabama territory's mixed counties(of which Clarke is included); 1830 Clarke county census record. His wife is Martha (Benge) Files. John married Martha Benge in Clarke county on July 22, 1815. Martha is probably the daughter of a settler Benge who lived on pigeon Creek. She had at least one sister and a brother. Her sister became a McCurdy, marrying in Wilcox county and then moving to Mobile.
