I am seeking information on the Wm. H. and Mary (Reynolds) Counce family that moved to Jackson Ct.,Illinois around fall of 1862 or early 1863. They left Hardin Ct.,Tn.on a boat on the Tn. River. One son, Aaron Casswell and his family, and five daughters went with them. Tennessse living at home single, Rachael Catherine Counce Chesney (later married Thomas Griffin), Patricia H. Counce Booker (later married Henry Litchliter), Mary Ann Counce Blackard (later moved to Arkansas and died there), Sarah Counce Counce Dickerson (later married John Polk Smith). John Anderson and George Washington Counce's wives and children also went, John Anerson joined his family later and died there. Both George Washington and John Anderson fougth for the Union. Wm. H. b.1799 and died April 24, 1864,Mary b. 1805 and died MArch 24, 1864 in Jackson Ct., Ill. I would appreciate any information on these families. Wm. H. Jr., James Claborne (my great grandfather), Martha Jane Counce Hoover and Elizabeth Counce Stephenson stayed in Hardin Ct. Tennessee. PENDLEY OF FORSYTH COUNTY, GA. My grandparents JAmes Tillman and Annie Lee (Pirkle) Pendley came to Hardin County, Tn. around 1888 from Forsyth Ct., Ga. We never knew much of my Pendley family. My great grandparents were James Tilford and Harriet (Estes) Pendley. They had two other sons, Pless and German Pendley, and three daughters. Pless married but I believe had no children. German had three sons, Ernest, Clifford and I do not know the other name. Clifford had one son Clyde living in Cumming, Ga, at one time. Mary Pendley married Frank McClain, had on son Monroe, Sallie Pendley married Scott White and had no children, Jane Pendley married Johnson Wade, had two daughters, Ada married a Godwin, and Dora Wade married a Dimsdale. Jane Pendley Wade had two sons, Ed and Pless. I would appreciate any information on this family. I have information on Harriet Estes' family but no parents for James Tilford or any brothers or sisters. Thanks |
