This family tree project was started by my dad Rupert Anthony Cyril Roberts III (1920-1990) some 20 years ago. It started with my dad's great grand dad Joe Bowen who came to the Bahamas from Barbados in 1800 to work on the first British Colonial Hotel down town Nassau. Joe Bowen and his companion a Ms Nancy Campbell from Jamaica produced five children Ernest Lenkard (1864-1928), Edward (1868-1928), Mary, Louise and Joe Jr. Ernest L Bowen was elected twice to the Bahamas House of Assembly between 1910 and 1925.Ernest married Marion E Johnson (1873-1957) from Governors Harbour Eleuthera.Mary Bowen was the Grand Mother of Sir Cecile Wallace-Whitfield (1930-1990) founding leader of the Free National Movement, M P and former Cabinet Minister. Henry Joseph Bowen (1931-?) son of Joseph H.S. Bowen was MP for West End and Bimini and deputy speaker f HOA. It has been the privilidge of Bradley Bernard Roberts third son of R A C Roberts III to have served as the Member of Parliment for Bain and Grants Town for 25 years. (1982-2007) and a Cabinet Minister.
