Peter Robert and his wife, Margaret Ryland, settled in Gaspe, Quebec around the year 1810. They came to the Gaspe with Peter's 2 brothers, James and John. James would eventually return to Prince Edward Island. Both Peter Robert and John Robert died sometime before 1829. The Roberts in Gaspe would all descend from Peter Robert and his wife Margaret Ryland. During the 19th century, an 'S' would be added to the name to anglacize the last name to Roberts.
Peter and Margaret's 4 sons would settle around the Gaspe Peninsula. Simon Peter Roberts married Mary Healy and settled at Shiphead. James Roberts married Maria Brouard and settled in Cap aux Os. Benjamin Roberts married Bridget Finan and settled in Fox River. While Alexander Roberts married Catherine West and settled in Little Gaspe. Members of the Roberts family would remain on their land that was originally settled 160 years before they were expropiated for the creation of Forillion National Park.
