| Welcome to the Fielden Bacy family history website! I have been researching Fielden's history and locating his descendants for more than 15 years. FIELDEN BACY was a slave born between about 1817 in Virginia. At some time he was sold to the Gee family. The Gee family had several plantations/settlements in Alabama, the most famous being Gee's Bend. Several Gees made their way to Texas and settled in the Burleson County area between 1850 and 1855. They brought Fielden to Texas with at least three of his children: daughters Harriet, Margaret and Sarah. Fielden was a breeder slave and the Gees are said to have rented out his 'services' to other plantations. Some of Fielden's children bore his name, others did not. There is a good possibility that other children remained in Alabama, as there are a sizeable number of ex-slaves with the surname Bosey, Bassey, Basy, etc. in Alabama in post-civil war Alabama, mostly in the area where Tuskegee is presently situated. After emancipation, Fielden, his son Henry, and sons-in-law worked and saved enough money for Fielden to purchase 320 acres of farmland situated on the waters of Yegua Creek at a cost of $2 an acre. This oil-rich land was located in a farming community known as Sand Hill, about 12 miles west of Caldwell. Over the years, the oil companies have slowly connived to deprive the family of the land, such that only one retains any ownership. Daughters Harriet, Margaret and Sarah lived alongside Fielden and his last wife, Eliza. Fielden and Eliza had one last child together, Frank Bacy. Fielden's son, Henry, married Eliza's daughter, Isabelle. Eventually, the hard and unpredictable life of farming drove most of the family out of Sand Hill to the growing prosperity of Rockdale and Cameron, about 20 miles north in Milam County. In the early 1900s, Harriet and husband, Jackson Allen, as well as Sarah and husband Andrew Johnson moved to Rockdale. Daughters Malinda Wilkerson and Emma Tillus lived with their husbands in Cameron. Sons Henry and Ira also lived in Lee County. Youngest son Frank eventually settled in Mart, Texas with his wife, Eva Ray, and raised 10 children. Only Margaret remained in Sand Hill, where she raised 10 daughters, 2 grandchildren, and cared for her father until his death. Some of Margaret's descendants are in possession of a remnant of the land that comprised the first home of the Bacy Family in Texas. When Fieldan Bacy died on March 16, 1904 in Sand Hill, Texas, his death certificate listed his age as 95, but according to birth information, he would have been approximately 87. Fielden Bacy is the man to whom more than 2,000 descendants of his known children trace their origins in America. It is a family God has richly blessed this family great spiritual gifts, and many, diverse talents. Many of our family have achieved great success in their chosen fields of endeavor. To God be the Glory. ". . . [B]e not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God."
