| My primary goal is to establish a firm connection between John C. Robbins, born May 4, 1829 and Thomas Robbins, born 1791. Census records indicate there was only one Thomas Robbins living in Brunswick County, NC when John was born. Thomas's only known wife was Elizabeth Swain. John's death certificate lists his parents as Thomas Robbins and Mary Penny. Therein, lies my problem. John married Nancy Jane Arnold on October 10, 1889 at the home of Nancy's parents, O. T. and Susan A. Arnold. John and Nancy are buried in the Robbins Family Cemetery at the Mill Creek Baptist Church. My second goal is to find the reason for the feud between my father, Fred Robbins and Dexter Robbins. Fred was a son of John C. and Dexter is descended from Thomas G Robbins, son of Thomas Robbins and Elizabeth Swain. John and Thomas G. are buried not far from each other. Although Fred and Dexter swore they would not be caught dead in the same cemetery, they are buried not 50 feet apart in the Robbins Family Cemetry. The reason for the feud was not passed to my generation. My third goal is to find Rita's Fabyanic family, at least back from her grandparents. The Fabyanic name is rare and the spelling was changed on entry to this country a few generations back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
