| This page is dedicated to my children, with hope that knowing of their family may enlighten them of the past. This research is farther dedicate to those who came before us, not just of family, but of honor to all of them and their hardship. This research will cover the following names of our direct family line: ROBBINS (Robins) ... TONEY ... LEWING & KNIPPERS I seek any and all information of these names, wheither immediately connected or not ... If you are named, or related to one of the above names, please contact me. My grandfather was named: J.(?) William Robins, born July 1883 in Lawrence county, Mississippi, as was his father before him. From his death certificate, it shows his father, Gilliam ??, was also born in Lawrence cty. Miss, and his mother, Elizabeth Jay or Joy or ??, was from Dale or Dallas county Alabama. It is beleived that one of his parents, may have been an indian, Cherokee or Choctaw.. In July 1912, in Louisiana, he married Elizabeth Toney. She was born in Louisiana about 1898. Her mother's name was 'Candis (Phillips) Toney, father's name is Edward. Candis was the daughter of Jasper J. Phillips, land owner, 1897 in Veernon parish, La. Elizabeth (Lizzie) had a brother named Buck, who was married to a Lela Robins, (not known if related to J.W., but was to be so) and a sister named Alice. Elizabeth died shortly after 1920, and is buried in Anacoco cemetery in Vernon parish, La. alongside her husband, J.W., who died about 1917. LEWING is my mothers maiden name, and I have been able to trace this name back into Ireland to 1754, but mainly in a direct line, I would be interested in sibling information. The Lewing family began in Ireland, and ended up in Many, Sabine parish, La. (Lewingtown) ... If you are a Lewing or related to one, please contact me. The name KNIPPERS, is my grandmother's (mothers side), maiden name ... these too, are from Many, Sabine parish, La.. I have just started on this research, and have very little information ... any info that you may have, and would like to share would be greatly appreciated . As more info is uncovered, it will be added to this home page, in hope that it may assist in the complete research of the families history ... a history I am willing to share with others of this family. |
