Lots of pictures and a couple of new links at the bottom of the page. Included is a link to a Rootsweb site where I have over 48,000 individuals (a combination of deeply researched and compiled information) and a link to "Ancient Faces" which some of you might find interesting!

Very special thanks to David L Sanders of Mobile, AL, my second cousin, for lighting the fire that got this started back in 1969. His generosity in time and the knowledge he was willing to share is irreplaceable. And to Jeffrey Bassett of Illinois for finally providing the link to William Bassett, a passenger on the ship, "The Fortune", arriving at Plymouth Colony in 1621. And especially to my wonderful Great Aunt Sarah Robison Coker with the greatest treasure trove of the relatives I never had a chance to know growing up!

I recently visited her at her home in Evergreen, AL. She has been researching our family for nearly 30 years. She has broken the barrier for me regarding the surname ROBISON by providing hundreds of documents that demonstrate the vagaries of this type of research. A series of pension documents, for example, for TABITHA ROBINSON has her name spelled 3 ways on the very same document: ROBERTSON, ROBINSON and ROBISON. Poor widow Tabitha was 85 years old in 1878 when she attempted to muddle her way through 19th century bureaucratic red tape to collect a pension for her husband's service in the War of 1812. I'm still not sure what she finally collected, if anything! Hezekiah Robertson/Robinson, Tabitha's husband, is the farthest back I have been able to reach that line so far.

Enjoy the information provided---especially the recently added photos---and PLEASE feel free to correct me where I've made mistakes and please contact me at directly if you'd like at drr45@msn.com.

Thanks,

Dave Robison

  • Ancestors of David R Robison (440 KB)
The attached is a text file of all ancestors researched and compiled as of 12 November 2003. One of the lines of "alleged" (undocumented) ancestors reaches as far back as the 12th century to Fulk IV the Rude, Count of Anjou, a member of the Plantagenet family born in 1106! If he is truly my ancestor, he would be my 29th Great Grandfather!
