Ref: IGI Record ,Film Num. 170658, Pg. 419, Reference Num. 35172

Leah Adams and Isaiah Cain lived in the Manor of Rensslarswyk in 1775. We know nothing about the Cain family prior to that time. We know that in 1649 Killian Van Rennsselaer purchased land from the Mohawk Indians. The land was patented in 1685. The Lower Manor of Rensselarswyk was called Claverack. It is believed this is where Rebecca Cain married John Wood. Apparently Killian Van Rensselaer never came to America. He did manage to establish a quasi- feudal system of land leases. It is possible that Isaiah Cain was a tenant....therefore no land records.

Isaiah Cain died between 1811 and 1818. He may have died just after 1811 census as it was John (his son) on 25th of March, 1811 who sold part of Lot 15 in Conc. 3 and Isaiah was not assessed after this date.
