| This is the Roberts family that settled in Alabama. Some of this information might not be exact, but it is in order as best as I could do. History of Robert Family The early Robert ancestors are supposed to have gone from France to Wales, then have returned to France, later joining the persecuted Protestant refugees who settled in Switzerland. It appears from the Welsh motto on the coat of arms that Daniel Robert's ancestor must have lived for awhile in Wales and received knighthood during that period of allegiance to the Welsh ruler. The descendents of Christopher Robert(founder of Robert college in Constantinople) claim the same coat of arms used by Rev.Pierre Robert's descendents, which indicates that Christopher, also, was from the line of Daniel and Marie. In the main library of New York City is a book written by a Robert, and in the book claim is made that Roberts were found in Wales at a very early period, but the name was then spelled Rhobert. The name Robert was later changed with the "s" added on when it then became the name Roberts. |
