Lillie Hager Dufford (b. 18 July 1887, d. 29 November 1973)
Lillie Hager Dufford (daughter of Gilbert Dufford and Mary Ann Frace) was born 18 July 1887 in German Valley, NJ at home, and died 29 November 1973 in Dover NJ, buried in Naughright Cem. Lg. Valley. She married Raymond Roberts on 18 November 1914 in German Valley, N.J. Lutheran Ch. by W.S.Delp, son of William Peter Roberts and Rebecca Sarah Thurston.
Notes for Lillie Hager Dufford: Lillie Hager Dufford, my mother, was a kind, sweet, loving mother. She stayed at home meeting the needs of her family. She made many of our clothes, she prepared all of our meals, except Sunday evening when it was pot-luck time. She would dicipline us with a whip taken from a lilac bush and use it on our ankles. She was known for her hospitality, including taking food to needy neighbours. I remember an incident in her last years. She lived to be 86 years old. In her last 3 years her memory failed, she became senile. She did not know me or my father and could not speak intelligently. It was during this time that her minister came for a visit while I was present. As he got ready to leave he suggested that we have prayer. We all got down on our knees in the living room. She did the same. As we were praying, taking turns, she started to pray also. We stopped to listen to her pray. We were all dumb-founded as she prayed. She prayed a very intelligent prayer with power and authority as of the Holy Spirit. John 14: 16-20. John 14: 16.- And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17. Even the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18. I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you. 19. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me. Because I live, ye shall live also. 20. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
