Notes for Gilbert Dufford: Gilbert was the janitor at the German Valley (Long Valley) Lutheran Church. I remember him from several visits we made to Long Valley when I was only 3-5 years old. We tarvelled to Long Valley from Dover in a Model T Ford. At one time he killed a copperhead snake with a clothes line pole in the side yard. Another time the men in the family butchered a number of Pigs while we were there. I also remember all of the men-folk sitting on the side porch on one visit and we had our picture taken. This picture is in the Dufford family in the New York area. Janet Jeffries believes she can get the picture for copying. I remember when he died, we travelled to Long Valley and his wife said that he fell and hit his head on a cot in the dinning or sitting room. She didn't know if he died and fell or if the fall killed him. He was a gentle man.
