Tom's maternal grandparents - probably their wedding photo. Hans was born September 27, 1878 in Brunz, Slasvic, Denmark - he immigrated in 1898 to Seattle. Maren Dorthea Nielsen was born March 20, 1889 Næsbjerg Biltofft, Vaarde, Denmark - she immigrated to Seattle October 30, 1907 aboard the Hellig Olav; her passage was paid by her maternal uncle Frands Madsen. Hans and Maren married March 04, 1910 in Seattle - at the time Maren worked as a domestic for a notable minister named Mark Matthews of First Presbyterian Church in Seattle. Hans worked for the Seattle Tacoma Interurban Railway. He later was a poultryman. Hans died in 1953 and Maren in 1985.
