Edith (left) was Jana's great grandmother. She was born 1874 in Giant's Grave, Neath, Wales. She immigrated to Ishpeming, Michigan in 1895 and married Fenwick Hawes shortly thereafter. Mining took the family to Idaho and when she insisted he change careers, Fenwick took a job at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington shortly after 1910. They had 6 children. Edith died in Seattle in 1960. Her sister, Lottie was born 1880 and left Wales for Michigan in 1900 and shortly thereafter married John Hendra. She gave birth to at least 7 children. She died (in Michigan?) in 1959.
