Tom's great grandparents both born in Slesvig Denmark (a region that has also been Slesvig, Germany). Tom's Grandfather, Hans Andersen was their youngest son. Presumably they died while Hans was a teen since Hans was living with a family named Lassen when he immigrated to the US in his very early 20's)
