| My name is Janine Roberts, I live in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.I have just started tracing my family tree. My great grandmother was Maria Louisa Meredith born at Kingston Tasmania in 1870, her father was Charles Thomas Meredith born 1848 Hobart, Tasmania. Maria married James Bird in Hobart, Tasmania in 1888. Maria's son Charles Frederick Bird married Acacia Kelly who died in Hobart on April 10, 1944. Other names I am interested in are Orpen, Sproul(e), Meredith, Bird, Kelly, Farmer, Carpenter these names are to do with my direct ancestors and lived in Tasmania, Australia. Iam also researching my maternal grandmother, her maiden name was Valda Victoria Dillon, and was born at Cygnet, Tasmania. I am uncertain of details on this side, all I have is that her fathers name may have been John Michael Dillon, any information would be most welcome. Valda's husband was Phillip William Alomes, descendant of Jacob Bellett and Ann Harper convicts to Australia, Jacob with the first fleet and Ann with the second fleet. I may be able to answer questions from others also tracing these lines, and any information from others would be greatfully accepted. Hints and tips on researching are most welcome, I am a very new researcher. |
